Longwood Primary School

Geography

At Longwood our Geography curriculum is designed to develop pupils' curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives and hopefully ignite their passion for travel. We are committed in widening our pupils' experiences outside of Tamworth as well as developing a real sense of who we are, our heritage and what makes our local area unique and special. We utilise our on site Forest School to captivate our pupils thirst for knowledge about our natural world.

Our pupils passionately apply geographical skills and knowledge to a range of audiences such as other schools, parents and siblings. They are able to articulate using their knowledge and correct vocabulary relating to a specific place, in Britain or the wider world, that they may have visited or wish to visit in the future. Our pupils develop effective presentation techniques, the ability to apply questioning skills to reach clear conclusions and explanations about their findings. We encourage our pupils to participate in discussions to enable them to offer well balanced opinions, rooted in very good knowledge and understanding about current issues in society and the environment.
